Although hairstylist Scotty Cunha now has a repertoire of celebrity clients that include Kate Bosworth, Miley Cyrus and all those Kardashians, he didn't always know what he wanted to do with his life. Growing up in Rhode Island, Cunha hated high school and knew he was artistic but wasn't sure what to do with it. "I didn't want to go to fashion school because that was too hard," he laughed. So, he decided to enroll in a local beauty school and found his niche in hairstyling.
Shortly after finishing school, Cunha visited a friend in West Hollywood and made an impromptu decision that he wasn't going to leave. At just 19, he moved his life west and finished up a few necessary classes at Paul Mitchell the School in Costa Mesa before taking an assisting job at Jonathan Salon. After three years there, he finally landed a head stylist job at Andy LeCompte Salon where he still works Thursday through Saturday. "My job is amazing," said Cunha. "I really have the best job in the world."
When Cunha isn't on set with one of Hollywood's top stars or in the salon cutting and styling, he's working on his Instagram game. His next big goal is to get to one million followers (he only has a little over 35 thousand). "It's been a steady 35, so I need a push," Cunha told us with determination. "I want one million. Positive energy."
We met the hysterical Cunha at his favorite West Hollywood juice spot where he ran into an old friend (just actress Sophia Bush, no big deal) before filling us in on his relationship status, Rihanna obsession and not learning French.

"Watch the movie."
What is one hairstyle you wish would go away forever?

"Carnivore."
What was your New Years Resolution?

Have you ever had an epiphany?
"Yes! This is so obnoxious but I was at Cecconi's with my friend after a couple of glasses of champagne. I don't have a boyfriend right now so I need to date, I'm 29, and I was like 'I don't hate anything about myself?OH MY GOD, I DON'T HATE ANYTHING ABOUT MYSELF! That's amazing.' Because some people are like 'I hate this. I hate that,' I listen to it all day and I don't hate anything about myself. That was the first step. Now, I'm ready to date."
