Since venturing into the wild world of blogging at just 14 years old, rising fashion star Olivia Lopez has managed a packed schedule that includes hosting and styling major events for the likes of Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, as well as joining forces with top designers like Madison Harding (her Coachella-inspired boots have sold out three times)—all while still being in school. Her latest collab is with LA's own Blaque Market, which was inspired by the rock-and-roll roots of her mega-popular blog, Lust for Life.
The Lust for Life x Blaque Market collab is a six-piece capsule collection that's heavy on vegan leather, cherry red and slinky cotton. With prices ranging from about $50 to $150, part of the line is already available here. We caught up with Lopez to find out more about her debut collection, which was a year in the making.
How did the design collab between you and Blaque Market come about?
"I was styling two campaigns for Blaque Market and Blaque Label at Milk Studios when the owner casually asked if I had ever thought of designing clothes. I always have but never had the opportunity and from that day onward, we began the planning process for the Lust for Life x Blaque Market capsule collection!"
What factor was most important to you when designing the capsule collection?
"Translating my personal style into durable yet edgy pieces. Instead of looking to trends, I looked into my closet and searched my inspiration folders for what pieces of clothing had always stood out to me, what type of clothing I've kept around and what I'm always seeking out for as a consumer myself."
What was the most exciting part of the process?
"Seeing my samples for the first time! Seeing an idea come to life was a really exciting experience."
Who would you love to see wearing the collection?
"Kate Bosworth! She always looks uncontrived and effortless, and her style always manages to be current yet timeless."
What three words describe the line?
"Easy, motorcycle, simple."
What are the key pieces?
"The moto leggings, the open back grommet top and the cold shoulder romper. They're all such easy pieces that are simple to throw on for almost any occasion."
Which piece best reflects your personal style?
"The high-waisted studded shorts, they're directly inspired by a vintage pair of leather corset, high-waisted shorts I received in my early days of blogging. It's an unconventional piece that's definitely not for the faint of heart but I've had it for six years now and I've managed to wear it a hundred ways."
Where can we buy the collection?
"The collection will be exclusively available on MissKL.com!"
