Today's pick comes from Racked National editor Kerry Folan.
Want to ruin a perfectly good summer weekend? Go get a sun burn. (I speak from experience here.) So with Memorial Day Weekend kicking off the summer travel season, I am sharing my absolute best hat trick so that you, readers, can learn from my mistakes.
This Helen Kaminsky rafia sun hat will save you for the next three months. Unlike most straw hats, it's rollable and packable—there is literally nothing you can do to it do mess it up—yet it still manages to retain it's shape. (That is pure magic, as far as I'm concerned—some kind of crazy Australian voodoo.) Also, it has an ingenious sweat band at the inner forehead so you don't get itchy. Yes, $200 is a lot of money to spend on a hat, but you will have it forever. I'm on my sixth season with mine, and my skin is extremely grateful that I am.
