In case you missed it, Nicole Richie has a hilarious new AOL web series called Candidly Nicole that's inspired by her Twitter feed. The latest episode tackles the age-old conundrum of what to wear on a first date, which has been challenged in recent times with the introduction of man-repelling pieces like harem pants.

"I think it's a common problem with girls not to know the difference between what's appropriate to wear in front of a guy and what's appropriate to wear in front of a girl," Richie explains in the five-minute clip. To test her theory, she visits Satine on West 3rd Street with a girl friend (Erin Foster), who has a date coming up, and a male pal (former E! correspondent Ben Lyons) who isn't afraid to tell it like it is.

After quickly coming to the conclusion that the aforementioned drop-crotched look is a no-go (Lyons yelled "you're wearing sweatpants!"), the trio settles on two options: a simple LBD selected by the guy and a pants/crop top/vest number picked by Richie, which was a surprising hit. See it all below.
