In addition to being a source of visual inspiration for designers and a must-stop during awards season, The Beverly Hills Hotel is also home to the US launch of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize. Founded in 2010, the annual award was created to shine a light on emerging fashion designers hand-picked by a series of high-profile, fashion-savvy judges from around the world. Past winners include British style star Thomas Tait and cult-favorite jeweler Anndra Neen.
To kick off this year's event, last week the legendary property hosted a party attended by three 2013 judges: Neiman Marcus personal shopper Catherine Bloom, fashion designer Gelila Puck and celebrity stylist Penny Lovell. The power trio announced that, in addition to £25,000 funding (that's more than 38,000 in US dollars), this year's winner will also receive one-on-one mentoring from a selection of big-name judges.
If you think you have what it takes, learn more about the prize's criteria here and prep to apply when registration opens in mid-April. The main event will be held at The Dorchester in London on October 29th and will include a catwalk presentation. It'd be pretty damn cool to have an LA winner this year. Just sayin'.
