Nicole Pollard knows a thing or two about our city's high-end retail scene. As the brains behind luxury styling and personal shopping service LalaLuxe, the LA-based powerhouse and monogramming enthusiast works directly with top boutiques to ensure that her crème de la crème clients look their best upon request. She recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to reveal some of her prized shopping secrets.
After admitting that she never gets her biggest whales out of bed "for less than half a million dollars," Pollard explains that a key perk of her lucky gig involves a form of legal shoplifting. "When I was a child I used to dream of taking anything I want from a store, and now I can," she explains. "It's like Supermarket Sweepstakes but for luxury."
Other nuggets of insight include the power of texting ("It's the fastest way to get things done such as opening Chanel on New Year's Day"), LA's superior footwear game ("We definitely have better shoe styles than New Yorkers because women don't have to walk nearly as much here") and how to pull off an urgent style switcheroo ("For one of my Grammy clients who needed a nude clutch, Saks was able to switch out her clutch last minute, and we did it in 30 minutes").
