Everyone from Acne to Target to the Ace Hotel to Equinox wants to get a piece of Downtown LA. Add upper-crusty men's suiting brand Brooks Brothers to that list. As Brigham Yen reported last year, the brand has decided to return to Downtown, spurred by an offer of space at exclusive spot the Jonathan Club.
According to the Times, Brooks Bros. will be stocking the shop with suits, tuxes, luggage, accessories and some women's items. Jonathan Club COO Matthew Allnatt is excited for the opening, calling the lack of formal men's options in the area "criminal." He hopes it will usher in some sort of high-end DTLA retail renaissance, and a Brooks Bros exec quoted in the piece dreams of a "Louis Vuitton or Burberry or any other luxury retailers" moving in nearby. Well, don't hold your breath for that. Brooks Brothers is slated to open April 29th.
