Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

America Martin is a Colombian-American fine artist and a rising star in the contemporary art universe whose works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions nationwide. Among Martin's fans and collectors are actors such as Danny DeVito, Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, Juliette Lewis, Simon Helberg and Giovanni Ribisi. Here, she tells us about her favorite shopping spot for injecting a little lightheartedness into a dinner party.
Ozzie Dots is a gem of a vintage clothing store that stocks amazing dresses at great prices. I live in Silverlake and it's located in Los Feliz so it's very close and always fun. They not only have great clothing finds, but it's a place I usually visit before special birthdays. I go to Ozzie Dots for vintage skirts and aprons, but I also love their huge selection of fake noses, fake ears, whistles, wigs and masks. I throw a lot of dinners and events in my studio and every now and then it's fun to bring theatrical toys and pass them out to friends. There's nothing like looking down a long table and see people acting like kids, laughing at each other's ridiculous appearances. Thank you Ozzie Dots.
