From Frank Ocean crooning at the Levi's Grammy event to Snoop Dogg Lion lighting up the Adidas pop-up party, music-meets-fashion fêtes are big in LA these days. The latest gathering to expertly merge style and sound went down this past Saturday night at Fred Segal's Ron Herman shop on Melrose. To ring in the West Coast launch of Diesel and Edun's Studio Africa project and denim capsule collection, the star-fanned brands hosted an outdoor BBQ with a lively performance by that other famous Knowles sister.
After noshing on gourmet bites and taking in Diesel + Edun's 25-piece range of dressed-up basics manufactured in Africa with Uganda's finest CCI cotton, Solange hit the stage at 7pm sharp. Her prompt presence was a breath of fresh air for partygoers (when was the last time an act actually performed on time?), inspiring a non-stop dance sesh from the moment the fashion darling opened her mouth to the second she took her final bow.
As a nod to Studio Africa's celebration of creativity, at one point the 2013 advocate urged the snap-happy audience to put down their phones and simply live in the moment. She then gifted the obliging crowd by belting out her mega hit single, "Losing You," which led to monstrous applause and ear-to-ear smiles. Beyoncé must be proud.
