Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Interior designer Tim Clarke started his career with world-renowned decorator Michael Smith (who most recently designing the Obama White House) and quickly developed his own list of impressive clients. His celebrity fans include Sally Field, Matthew Perry, Ben Stiller, Portia de Rossi and James Spader, to name a few. Here, the interiors guru tells us about his favorite under-the-radar spot in Santa Monica for unique finds.
When designing homes, I'm always searching for unique finds that are as original as each space I create. Rumba is my local favorite when I'm looking for reinvented home décor that is one-of-a-kind. Whether I'm looking for classic or distinctively mid-century with unexpected fabrics and crazy-good colors, owner Kimba Hills always has something that won't be found anywhere else. You'll find named designer pieces from all periods that are realistically priced and perfectly functional for the way we live today; everything is hip and cool but nothing too precious. Be sure to wander out back into Rumba Annex, which is an extension of the retail store and an actual living space where everything is impeccably styled and for sale! Hills creates a living space so you see how the inventory can be used in your own home. In a sense, it's free decorating advice from a groovy interior designer. Every time I stop by or look in the windows there is something new.
