Where This Photographer Gets Crafty in DTLA

Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Shawn Smith is a fashion, music and beauty photographer who runs SNOWStudios, a 7,500-square-foot studio in DTLA's Arts District. He's hosted everyone from Skrillez to Nasty Gal to Nylon for events; here, the crafty photographer tells us about a place he's been venturing to for more than 14 years.

I am native Angeleno and Downtown Los Angeles resident for 14 years. My favorite go-to place for crafts, event design and decorations for the studio is Moskatels. It is owned by Michaels Crafts but is definitely not the Michaels Mega Store. They have everything you need for any set design and holiday. Moskatels is next door to the Flower Mart and it has every kind of vase you could want for floral arrangements. Did I mention that they have at least 10 different kinds of glitter glues? Who knew you needed so many different types for projecting and scrapbooking?
