Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Mid-Wilshire folks no longer have to trek to Hollywood's Home Depot for fix-it goods. Nine months ago, our sister site Curbed confirmed that Orchard Supply Hardware was ditching its Sunset digs to move into a massive space at the corner of La Brea Avenue and 4th Street. We drove by the whopping 30,080-square-foot store this week, and it looks like construction is nearly complete.
Founded in 1931, San Jose-based OSH operates 70 stores in California and two stores in Oregon. 415 S La Brea Avenue will be the company's 71st Cali location and, just like its other neighborhood hardware and garden stores, will focus on paint, repair and backyard maintenance. Curbed adds that this location will also include "a 3,800-square-foot outdoor nursery and garden space and rooftop parking." Parking!
Stay tuned for the official opening date, set for early 2014. Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 7am to 9pm and Sunday from 8am to 8pm.
