Elyse Walker, Scout, More: Insiders Pick LA's Best Shops of 2013

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Just like last year, we've tapped a handful of reputable fashion friends to weigh in on 2013's greatest hits (and misses). First up: Best Shop. Agree with their picks? Sound off in the comments.

Amanda Thomas, Luv Aj designer: "I just moved to the Palisades, so my local stop every Sunday is Elyse Walker. Their current stock of Givenchy, Isabel Marant and Balenciaga is making me drool. I'm also wishing I could buy every beautiful shoe in that store!"

Simone Harouche, stylist and Simone Camille designer: "Just One Eye."

Richard Wainwright, A Current Affair co-founder: "I'm biased, but my favorite store of 2013 is the relaunched Scout on Melrose. Joey has an impeccable eye. Favorite store eternally is Blackman Cruz, which never ceases to amaze and inspire me."

Kaya B., Mlle Mademoiselle designer: "My Mlle pop-up on Melrose place, of course!"

Tommy Lei , My Belonging blogger: "MRKT in Silverlake, hands down, simply for their vast selection of contemporary, avant-garde labels that originates here in LA and beyond."

Monica Rose, stylist and designer: "Just One Eye, Curve, Maxfield and Opening Ceremony."

Melissa Akkaway, designer and Beckley Boutique owner: "Besides my store, I love shopping Elyse Walker in the Palisades."

Jen Weinberg, Glamour West Coast editor: "TenOverSix. Every time I step foot in the store, I find something I can't live without. Once, I tried to pretend I wasn't impulsive, and I left a necklace I had fallen in love with behind. I got all the way to Hollywood, and then turned my car around to go back and buy it. (Yeah, I just admitted that!)"

Christos Garkinos, Decades co-owner: "Of course it was mine, Decades."

Sarah St. Lifer, freelance journalist: "How stunning is Isabel Marant's new digs? And everything about the new Mohawk Man store is incredible. Oh, and I have to admit, Topshop at The Grove has been a godsend, especially during those sales. I can't walk out of the store with at least a handful of new items."

Sonja Rasula, Unique LA founder: "I like Bucks & Does in Silver Lake for their great, casual selection of clothing and accessories, and a pretty high percentage of Made-in-America labels."
