Remember that one Christmas or Hanukkah gift you always wanted as a kid? Be it a Tickle Me Elmo or My Little Pony, your entire life revolved around that toy, and nothing could stop you from receiving it. (Except maybe your parents.) This holiday season, we're asking five LA style stars to reveal their best childhood wishes.

Derek Mattison knows a thing or two about swagger. Last year, the LA designer opened his immaculate shop on Melrose Place, providing a much-needed style sanctuary for gents who, like him, pair their short-sleeved tuxedos with limited-edition kicks.
Before slaying the menswear game in our city, Mattison was a ninja-loving kid in Detroit who was too busy idolizing rap legends to play with toys.
My childhood consisted of three things: 1) Yo! MTV Raps, 2) Tecmo Bowl and 3) Ninjas. One of the more interesting gifts that I totally forgot about but was reminded of today by my mom when I asked her about this was the gold $$$ ring that I had to have when I was around 12 and my idol was Fab Five Freddy.* I can only imagine my white-as-f**k parents going to a part of Detroit you would've had to gone to to acquire said ring. They're adorable. Sadly, mom couldn't find a photo of me rocking my prepubescent, suburban swag. She did, however, find a photo of me sporting the camo ninja outfit and matching camo bokken that I asked for and received Eff yes, mom!*** still is
** my appreciation of interior design clearly comes from my mother.
