Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Next Monday, December 2nd, Haute Hippie will open the doors to its highly-anticipated storefront at Sunset Plaza. Since this is the New York boho-luxe retailer's first-ever boutique on the West Coast, they graciously offered to hook up Racked readers with a sneak peek at the whimsical space.
As mentioned, HH has taken over the1,725-square-foot spot formerly occupied by Philip Press Jeweler at 8605 West Sunset Boulevard. They transformed the digs into an upscale hippie haven filled with longhorn skulls, cowhide rugs, chic chandeliers and additional accents that offer "a touch of old Hollywood," says president and creative director Trish Wescoat Pound.
"There is no other place that represents our brand as strong as West Hollywood due to its history and culture," adds CEO Jesse Cole. "A very large percentage of our wholesale business is based in Los Angeles. The new boutique will allow us to fully embrace the Haute Hippie aesthetic while establishing a broader customer base."
