From hitting up one fabulously fashionable bash after another to counting folks like burlesque beauty Dita von Teese as a BFF, who wouldn't want to walk in Decades boutique co-owner Cameron Silver's super stylish shoes? As couture-obsessed couch potatoes saw on his Bravo reality series The Dukes of Melrose, the regular jet-setter faced no shortage of plot twists and turns during his stylish expeditions, so we knew the self-professed "King of Vintage" (the crown is definitely deserved) has some serious stories to tell when it comes to city-hopping.
We know all about his international shopping successes, so we asked Silver to spill the beans on the bad bits of his voyages. Here, he shares his most recent travel horror story—click on the jump for more.
Quite recently, I decided to AirBnB at a friend's apartment in NYC. He's a struggling performance artist and I thought I was doing the Lord's work by staying in his apartment in the Lower East Side. It's actually a duplex and I was assured my own clean room and bathroom.
However, SA (Struggling Artist) overbooked his place an I arrived to a makeshift hostel with two guys from Italy, two guys from Austria, and a Parisian. After taking a cocktail of an Ambien and Ativan, I managed to sleep somewhere in the living room—only to wake up with a nude stranger next to me. I am 44 and I shouldn't be couch surfing in Animal House. Back to the Carlyle.
