Jennifer Meyer on Her LA Hangouts and Greatest DVF Moment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

During yesterday's unexpected heatwave (seriously, what was that?), we slipped into Diane von Furstenberg's Melrose boutique to cool off at the legendary designer's LACMA-benefitting tea and shopping soirée. The event was co-hosted by Kate Hudson's favorite jeweler, LA's own Jennifer Meyer, who was quick to salute the woman of the hour.

"Diane has always been just a total icon for me," Meyer shared with Racked. "I remember seeing her for the first time when I did my first CFDA judge interview. It was amazing! She's larger than life."

The Cali-born design star also revealed some of her favorite local spots for grub, retail therapy and refreshments: "I love DVF and Barneys for shopping, and Brentwood Country Mart for eating because it's easy, cute, fun and great for kids. For drinks, you can't go wrong with the Polo Lounge at Beverly Hills Hotel for a classic, Old Hollywood experience."

After mingling with her many guests that included co-hosts Amanda de Cadenet and Katherine Ross, style stars Rachel Zoe and Estee Stanley, and bloggers Chriselle Lim and Jacey Duprie, DVF took us aside to declare her love for LA. "My entire family lives here, so I love visiting," the sunnies-sporting designer explained. "There are two things I absolutely love to do when I'm in town: hiking and shopping at the Rose Bowl Flea!" Isn't she just the coolest?
