Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Menswear blogger Tommy Lei of MYBELONGING quickly rose through the ranks of blogging popularity thanks to his crazy-cool ensembles, which are creatively pieced together by a mix of high and low finds. Outside the blogosphere, the rising star has also become a regular on the LA fashion circuit hitting up one stylish bash after another mingling with like-minded fashion folk. Although Lei likes to get in a good deal of his shopping done online, when he ventures out to nab some edgy goods his new go-to shop is none other than one of our best men's store contenders.
I first discovered MRKT at their grand opening party in Silverlake on Sunset Blvd, which is already home to a number of top menswear boutiques. What makes MRKT so special is owner Steve Villal's unique eye for the street-sophisticated menswear labels that are hard to find anywhere else. The moment I laid my eyes on their curated selection of leather jackets from LA-based James Payne to the fabulous hats from Commune De Paris, I knew I had found my favorite store. I was so enamored that I went back the following week to film a specific segment on them, which will be debuting on my YouTube channel very soon.
