West Hollywood salon Benjamin with Negin Zand—formerly Salon Benjamin—ain't your ordinary celeb-loved coiffeur spot. For starters, its Melrose Avenue space feels more like an English librarian's artsy abode than it does your average A-lister frequented salon. To prove their red carpet clientele hasn't gotten them starry-eyed one bit, the luxe hair lab is shaking things up a bit—starting with a new in-salon apothecary boutique and a new mantra.
Now stocking natural and organic beauty brands from around the globe, the salon's 500-square-foot Selects shop offers hair products, skincare, bath goods and more—all hand-picked by head stylist Benjamin Mohapi and boutique manager Genavieve Lynch. As for the salon's interiors, the space will feature vintage furniture and global art picked up by the master stylist at flea markets and swap meets. Mohapi tells us its ever-evolving eclectic design is "a reaction to the over-saturation of celebrity culture."
In addition, the salon says they're fine-tuning their focus from couture coifs to attainable, everyday style. "Having been in LA for a couple years, we realized that what clients really want is hair that is modern, natural, and easy to maintain. Our focus is more on hair quality and simple shapes," they tell us. "This a brand for real people with real hair."
