Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Quiet store openings are so hot right now. Following Céline's silent Rodeo unveiling and Rag and Bone's hushed Brentwood invasion, Maje has slyly slipped open its first-ever Cali boutique at the Beverly Center.
The famed French brand's debut store is temporarily located on the mall's first floor between BCBG and Hugo Boss. It's tiny but mighty and features an awesome range of ready-to-wear, outerwear, footwear and accessories. (See below for an in-store snap.) There's also a 30% off rack in the center of the store, which will remain through the end of the year.
Sales associates tell us that in April, the store will move into Chinese Laundry's current space on the same floor, which sits between Sketchers and SEE, and is across from Halston Heritage and —wait for it—Sandro!
As real estate exec Rachel Rosenberg explained last month, SMCP-owned sister brands Maje and Sandro "like to position their stores in the same district if not side-by-side," which is why Beverly Center is also scoring a Sandro. The store's plywood says "coming soon," but we're sure they'll pull a fast one and open as swiftly as they did their Beverly Hills location.
As for Maje Beverly Hills, which will be the brand's second Cali location, we'll keep our eyes peeled for progress. In the meantime, hit Bev Center stat!
