Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy weren't the only ones who found inspiration from LA's wild child days. Also paying tribute to the glory of the '80s is shoe guru and Decades co-owner Cameron Silver, who designed a punk-inspired capsule collection for footwear retailer Nine West.
The Duke of Melrose teamed up with Nine West contributing style director Kate Ciepluch to create a six-piece line influenced by Silver's youth "during the height of the LA punk scene" and in London. Priced from $69 to $299, the vintage-inspired collab salutes the decade's most iconic women of punk and new wave. The result? Neon-accented flats, suede scalloped pumps, and a serious pair of over-the-knee camo calf hair stunners.
"I actually saw X perform at the Roxy in 1983 (what were my parents thinking?)," Silver tells us. "Everyone from Wendy O Williams of the Plasmatics to Debbie Harry [of Blondie] to Hazel O'Connor and mohawk-sporting Annabella of Bow Wow Wow plus Nancy Spungen helped formulate this punk-inspired collection. These women all had such powerful personal style that was distinctive and remains trend-setting in the 21st century."
