After much anticipation, Hervé Léger Barbie is ready for her close-up. Last night we stopped by the LA brand's Melrose boutique, where bloggers, Hervé hoarders and fans of the iconic plastic doll lined up to fête the new and improved collectible and purchase life-sized versions of her teeny bandage and jacquard dresses.

Amidst the fantastic plastic frenzy, we managed to steal Chief Executive Officer Lubov Azria away to chat about the collab, her vision and her latest LA discovery.

Why Barbie?
"We like to say, it took 50 years to find the perfect match. The Hervé Léger woman and Barbie simply makes sense; both are synonymous for glamour, both exude confidence and both are iconically feminine."

How do Barbie's custom outfits represent the Hervé Léger woman?
"Our woman is glamorous in every sense of the word. She is a show-stopper with confidence radiating all around her. There are two sides to the Hervé Léger woman: she is strong and sexy and she is also aspirational and fashion forward. The looks we chose for Barbie represent both sides."

Did you play with Barbie as a child?
"Yes! I'm sure all designers started their careers with a Barbie doll. She was my perfect model and could pull off both Haute Couture and ready-to-wear. So versatile."

What was your motto during the creation of Hervé Léger Barbie?
"I would say, iconic. We wanted to create iconic signature looks for Barbie; wardrobe pieces to last her another 50 years."

What are you loving in LA right now?
"Believe it or not, baseball! Go Dodgers!"
