Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Just like muumuus, ponchos are suddenly cool again, thanks to boho babes like Erin Wasson. If you're looking to try the trend but can't be bothered with digging for the perfect vintage version, allow us to introduce you to new Laurel Canyon-brand Señor Tyrone.
Founded last December by New York expats Rob Rosenheck and Cindy Capobianco of the Capobianco firm, the duo was inspired to create an indie line with global appeal. Tyrone's first piece is a one-size, unisex poncho that local bands like Poolside and Hollywood stars like Evan Handler are already big fans of.
These festival-ready ponchos can be worn in a variety of ways (here's a tutorial) and are made of soft, synthetic fiber instead of the heavy, sometimes itchy wool of classic ponchos. Tyrone isn't available in stores yet, but you can snap up styles ($95-$125) in their e-shop here.
