The cornerstone of relaunched French-y label Equipment's collection is the collared shirt, and there are a dizzying array of them at the brand's new 1,000-square-foot LA flagship on Melrose Place. Silky button downs rendered in pastels and prints (particularly endearing are the polka dots, stars and mini zebras) hang from long racks, interspersed with the label's other offerings like soft cashmere sweaters, chic PJ sets and simple dresses. The shirts range in price from $198 (for a standard one-pocket) to $208 (two pockets); cashmere costs a bit more at $298 to $338.
The store's design is clean to keep a focus on the colorful wares, but Equipment CEO Serge Azria added a bit of personality with a work by Retna (from his personal collection) which sits at the back of the space. Racked was told that Azria is in the process of building an archive room at the Melrose boutique which will house a rotating assortment of pieces from the brand's beginnings in Paris.
The store is open seven days a week—stop by to shop Monday through Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday from noon to 6pm.
