Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson came up with his bow-tie line Tie the Knot as a way to "dip his toe into fashion," but it was his partner, lawyer Justin Mikita, who thought up the brand's philanthropic twist. "Justin was the one who came up with the idea of forming a foundation called 'Tie The Knot' and having proceeds go toward marriage equality," says Jesse. "Plus, if anyone hated the collection, they would sound like an asshole critiquing something that went toward a good cause. Pretty clever, right?"

Mikita and Ferguson model lots of Tie the Knot ties in their Coveteur spread, which features plenty of adorable photos of the couple posing in and around their Los Angeles abode. They also reveal their style inspirations (GQ, Tom Ford and fellow bow-tie enthusiast Brad Goreski), their love of sneakers and that Jesse learned to tie a bow tie just hours before filming the instructional video on the front page of the Tie the Knot site. Upon viewing, it might be the best instructional video we've ever seen—give it a look right here.
