Fashion's Night Out on La Brea was a low-key affair last night, with shoppers and partiers alike drifting up and down the block for the district's official party between 1st Street and 2nd Street. We started our evening outside Union to queue up for the ever-popular Kogi BBQ Truck, which was by far the busiest line of the many food trucks parked on La Brea. We didn't linger too long before making our way to American Rag for their steep discounts and musical performances. Revelers taking full advantage of the complimentary PBR and full open bar were treated to a performance by Bago, who warmed up the crowd for a set by The Abigails. Creative Recreation hosted a DIY shoe-customization coloring bar and there were rumors of hidden $12 Comme des Garcons T-shirts...but we weren't able to track any down.
Up the street, Unis had the best-looking crowd of the night with Blind Barber stylists and bartenders on hand for shaves, trims and hibiscus liqueur cocktails. Across La Brea, Honfoto by photographer Sam Hon had installed a free photo booth in a vacant storefront that offered passersby the opportunity to mug like a model for a minute, with a complete professional setup for impromptu photo shoots.
We then hopped up to Space 15 Twenty, where the Cheap Monday party was in full swing. White Arrows DJ'd and YACHT performed live; the event was also the opening night of the Swedish brand's pop-up shop. Hip partiers sipped complimentary PBRs while they shopped Cheap Monday's new collection, which featured a range of casual, comfortable mainstays like plaids and skinny jeans alongside trend-heavy additions such as neoprene jackets and skirts. Last night kicked off a two-month long stint for the pop-up shop, which will include screenings, shows and parties. The pop-up will go out with a spooky bang on October 26th with a Halloween blacklight bash—and yes, more free PBR.
