For their latest collaboration, LA footwear label Generic Surplus and streetwear kingpins Obey debut an inspiring video that highlights the stories of three individuals who "embrace the journey it takes to turn their passion into a profession." Shot by Dustin Beatty, Disciplines is set in LA and stars Malia James (director, photographer and Dum Dum Girls bassist), William Bensussen (DJ/producer that goes by Gaslamp Killer) and Gareth Stehr (artist/skateboarder).
Key moments include Bensussen revealing that he used to trek from San Diego to LA every weekend for "raves, concerts, hip hop shows" to stay plugged into the music scene and how James—a frequent mover as a child—started taking photos in an effort to "stop time for a minute and be able to hold onto a memory."
