There's talk that Urban Outfitters may be sniffing around the iconic Rialto Theatre on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles. Last week, the organization Bringing Back Broadway told the press that the retailer was in discussion with the Rialto about opening a store within its almost 100-year-old space.
In the comments of a post on Brigham Yen, Bringing Back Broadway reiterated that nothing was set in stone.
"We've been providing info and assisting on a potential deal for several months. Everyone's in talks but no deal yet. Might happen, might not. We'll see what happens but as long as historic standards are respected and there is community support, we would welcome a neighborhood-serving use that would activate the long-dormant space and allow future generations to enjoy it again at long last. They also assure that should Urban Outfitters move forward with its plans, it will have to conform to standards set for historic districts—standards which hopefully include the preservation of that amazing marquee.
