Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Target lady has nothing on Andy King. King is the manager or "team leader" of the new 98,000-square-foot CityTarget in Westwood, and the subject of a new interview published on Target's blog, A Bullseye View. When asked what he likes most about his job, King said:

I love to watch people and their shopping patterns—what we're selling and what we need to get more of. For example, we have mattress pads for dorm room beds. It's a goofy item that we had tucked in the back aisle of the home department. But we realized we had a bunch of extras and it's almost back-to-college season, so we moved them towards the front of the store and now they're flying off the shelves!
There's much more if you're interested, including talk of a CityTarget vs LAPD basketball game (team Target won) and what King sees as the challenges ahead.
