Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We recently skipped town to watch Cali's hottest swimwear designers represent the West Coast at Miami Swim Week. The five-day jaunt has featured a slew of skin-baring festivities, including runway shows, parties, trade shows, parties, sample sales and more parties. From a rad Venice Beach designer discovery to a curious Kim Kardashian sighting, here's how it all went down.

On Friday, we beelined to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim tents to catch the Vitamin A show, designed by 2012 Mercedes-Benz Presents designer (and Laguna Beach local) Amelia Stevens. The collection was filled with boho swimsuits that we can see celeb fans like Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba packing for a stylish vacay.

Next, we hit up a Midori party hosted by the liqueur label's famous spokesmodel Kim K. It was complete pandemonium, as most Kardashian appearances are. The reality star only emerged from her heavily guarded cabana for a few minutes to take snaps with fans, flaunting her curves to distract everyone from the fact that Kanye West was only a few steps away. He was discreetly seated behind a curtain the entire night.

Saturday we scoped the booths at SwimShow (the week's swimwear and lingerie trade show), where we met up with SoCal heroes Tori Praver and Shimmi (a Rachel Zoe favorite). We also discovered some new cool, courtesy of Cassandra Kellogg and her Venice Beach-based swimwear line Minimale Animale. Kellogg's sexy edgy swimsuits are in a league of their own and have caught the eye of both Sports Illustrated and Foam.

Sunday started with a showing of BCBGeneration's cute swim range, designed by LA vintage shopping wiz Joyce Azria. We liked how they accessorized retro-inspired bikinis with modern accessories. Next up was Wildfox's poolside preview, where we bumped into celebs like actress Shenae Grimes and Kourtney Kardashian's man Scott Disick. The invite-only event was later followed by a boozy ping pong BBQ. (Wildfox's Miami takeover concludes tonight with a big runway show; we'll hook you up with a full recap tomorrow.)

We wrapped the weekend with Cali-bred designer Monica Wise's L*Space runway show at MBFW Swim. The event was divided into three collections—L*Space by Monica Wise, Maio by Monica Wise and The Collection by L*Space—and illustrated Wise's exceptionally versatile aesthetic. And yes, there are new styles of L*Space's signature fringe bikinis, so be sure to nab one before Rihanna buys them all.
