Teens, adults, and celebs alike turned out for Rookie Mag's latest stop on the nationwide "Rookie Road Trip," presented by blogging sensation Tavi Gevinson, Petra Collins of The Ardorous, and Urban Outfitters. The traveling show features hipster adolescent paraphernalia throughout the ages, from Joni Mitchell and Beach Boys records to Care Bears, glitter, flowers and a tree house that welcomes graffiti. The intricately-designed installation includes scenes from a teen girl's bedroom, notably a queen-size bed that's planted in the center of the space.
Despite overwhelming collections of strange objects, dramatic photographs and quirky memorabilia, the main attraction for the show's demographic was clearly Tavi herself, who bravely spent hours taking photographs with and talking to superfans. Her presence managed to outshine even that of model/cool girl Agyness Deyn and actress, filmmaker and artist Miranda July, who attended with her husband, "Beginners" director Mike Mills.
The twee celebration goes on all week, with events such as "DIY flower crown making" and a live Q&A with Office star Mindy Kaling on Thursday, July 26. The show closes with one final party on July 28, featuring a performance from the band Bleached.
