This morning's news that Barneys has decided to move its Warehouse Sale online alarmed us for two reasons. One, we really hate dealing with online sample sales, what with servers going down and trying to check out under serious duress. Two, we'd rather see the stuff in person and compete survival-of-the-fittest style at the LA Convention Center Downtown—and this whole online thing is threatening our
blood shopping sport.
Okay, so this was threatened last year, and nothing came of it. And when we called up Barneys customer service, we were assuaged of our fears—soothed us, even—and were told that the LA sale would be taking place right after the New York sale, which runs August 23rd through September 3rd. This is in contrast to last year, when the New York sale followed the LA sale by four days.
But were we the recipients of incorrect information? After speaking with said pleasant Barneys service rep, we checked the always reliable LA Convention Center events calendar to find no listing for the sale.
Continuing the recon, we called our contact at Barneys who at first said that she could not confirm a thing (neither the existence of the sale nor the possible dates). So here we are, eagerly awaiting more details. Stay tuned!
UPDATE: It's been cancelled. Bummer.
