Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Max Nagler was born and raised in Los Angeles. After a stint in marketing at American Apparel and then as an assistant in the licensing department at CAA, he founded the first-ever talent agency that exclusively represents fashion designers for licensing and collaboration, Creative Management Collective. As an agent he works with all types of clients, from shoe designer George Esquivel to clothing and eyewear designer Karen Walker. He likes to fill his home with knick-knacks (EVERYWHERE!), and when he has the time, he stocks up at OK Store on West 3rd.

"I have to admit that I have an obsession with knickknacks. If I had my way, my entire house would be wall-to-wall with little treasures. Mostly because when I go shopping I don't like to come home empty-handed, but also it's usually the little goods that tell the biggest stories. About five years ago I stumbled into OK Store on West 3rd Street probably after brunch at Quality or The Little Next Door. This place is a dream. Small. Gifts. Everywhere. They have an assortment of the most unique items from around the world. Like their hard-to-find collection of coffee table books to jewelry by my favorite jeweler in the world, Boulder-based Todd Reed. When it comes to small leather goods, their Comme des Garçons wallet collection is bar none. They also have a fantastic selection of modern and useful kitchenwares; I picked up a really cool set of dish towels for my mom last month. You can usually find me posted up there during the holiday season when I do 100% of my shopping at OK Store for clients, friends and family."
