Given her affinity for Hello Kitty, creative costumes and fun nail art, we all knew that Katy Perry was a fan of Japanese culture, but we didn't know the extent of her obsession. During her interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood last night, the LA-raised pop star talked extensively about her Japan love and also shared a clip from her upcoming 3D documentary Part of Me that features her and friends visiting Tokyo's legendary Cat Cafe, where people pay to play with cats.

Perry tells Kimmel that it all began as a child when, after her sister was sent away for stealing a bra and panties set from Macy's (seriously), Japanese exchange students came to live with her family: "I was like...Everything is Hello Kitty and it's perfect and it's clean and you eat with sticks! It was so incredible watching them as a culture, so now I've been obsessed with them ever since."
