Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Former model Kendall Conrad now spends her days designing a collection of luxury accessories rooted in her love for all things Americana and equestrian. Conrad founded her eponymous lifestyle brand in 2008 and after much online success, her goodies are now sold at her two shops—one in Venice Beach and one in Brentwood—and at retailers like Des Kohan. Whenever she wants to add a unique scent to her sparkling water, she heads over to L'oeil du Vert, an olfactory alchemist that operates on an appointment-only basis.

"Haley Alexander Van Oosten of L'oeil du Vert is a nose and olfactory alchemist. She makes wild-harvested, oil-based organic perfumes for companies like A.P.C., Free City, and Commune and will custom blend scents for individuals as well. Or you can buy her already made collection scents that come in the most beautiful hand carved wooden boxes, and little black glass rollettes to keep in your bag. Located in Santa Monica Canyon, this by-appointment shop smells heavenly—Frankincense, geranium, myrrh, water lily and bergamot—as she distills the plants and flowers right there in a beautiful glass and copper distillery. There are perfumes, body oils and creams. With the distilled water she then creates hydrosol drops taken from the distillation process that I love to scent my sparkling water or champagne with. The whole experience is unique and I end up staying for hours, drinking the hydrosol waters and smelling all of the scents. I always feel very uplifted afterwards, and smell divine!"
