Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
François Nars started his business in 1994 with a collection of 12 lipsticks. Now you can find NARS cosmetics at Sephora, Nordstrom, Barneys, Saks, Neiman Marcus and soon, at the brand's very own standalone store on Melrose Avenue between Orlando and Croft. This will be NARS' second flagship after their New York City location, which opened in February of last year. Not coincidentally, both are in close proximity to boutiques owned by Nars' friend and collaborator Marc Jacobs. We're awaiting official confirmation on the move from NARS corporate, but a reputable Racked source says it's a done deal.
