Makeup artist Erica Davidson comes from a family that's oozing with talent. Since her cousins happen to be Claire Thomas of addictive food blog The Kitchy Kitchen and Amanda Thomas of awesome jewelry line Luv AJ, the tight-knit trio is always looking for new ways to collaborate. In fact, Davidson's responsible for the pink roots in Luv AJ's latest lookbook, lensed by Claire at Venice High School.
Since it's Beauty Week and we love you, we asked Davidson to create two exclusive DIY spring beauty videos just for us. The first one is a colorful cat-eye, which was shot by Claire and stars Davidson's adorable sister, Rachel. Here's what she had to say about this cool new twist on an old favorite:
"Purple is perfect for spring and a great alternative to black. It's also a color that's flattering on a lot of skin tones and eyes. We saw colored cat-eyes on the runway at Matthew Williamson and Badgley Mischka, as well as purple lids at Peter Som. I was also inspired by the return of Mad Men this season, which I love! For this video, I used Make Up For Ever's Eye Seal, MAC's 266 Small Angled Brush, and NARS Eyeshadow in Cancan, which is a discontinued color but NARS Matte Eyeshadow in Daphne works just as well."
