Just this morning we learned that Planet Blue had shuttered its store at Westlake Village—reportedly because it was underperforming—and now WWD has it that the SoCal retailer is expanding all the way to Japan.
Planet Blue will be popping up for one week at department store Isetan and founder Ling-Su Chinn said that she will eventually open a permanent Tokyo store (and that in five years they expect to have five locations in Japan). There are changes afoot for the company's LA stores, too: another Cali store will open within the next 18 months, Planet Blue men's in Santa Monica may be shuttering (Chinn hasn't made a decision either way yet), and Planet Blue's beauty shop at the Malibu Lumber Yard is being converted to clothing.
