Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Jacey Duprie, born and raised a farmer's daughter in south Texas, never felt like she fit in in the Lone Star state. Fast-forward a few years and, after a move to Los Angeles, Duprie feels way more at home—living and blogging about her life as a self-proclaimed Damsel in Dior. She turned us on to Modernica, a West Hollywood furniture emporium where Duprie channels her inner Betty Draper.
"I'm a huge sucker for all things mid-century modern and one of my all-time favorite stores in Los Angeles is Modernica. If you visit our condo you can clearly see that we have an obsession for this store and their case-study series, day beds, fiberglass chairs...the list goes on. Whenever I'm in the area I love stopping by the store and pretending like I'm visiting Frank Sinatra's old home. An added plus is that they are super dog friendly so William and Polly (our English bulldogs) like to visit the store even more than we do! (psst...Polly won Editors' Choice in Modernica's Pets on Furniture contest this year, proud parent). The quality and style of Modernica's furniture can't be beat. Buying each piece feels like you're getting something truly special and vintage, yet new. If you're a fan of Mad Men, you'll LOVE Modernica! (p.s. they also have very unique pieces that have been collected from estate sales in Los Angeles)."
