Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Actress, mother of two and friend of Racked LA Shiva Rose took some time out of her multi-tasking schedule to chat with C Magazine about her eco-holistic blog, The Local Rose. Launched last February, the blog features organic food recipes, health tips, green living ideas, sustainable beauty spotlights, eco-friendly fashion and the occasional event recap.

Admitting that she has an activist nature (she was arrested twice for protesting during the Iraq War), she tells C that the blog was created to present "an alternative to people" and describes The Local Rose as the hippie version of Gwyneth Paltrow's sometimes-parodied lifestyle platform, Goop. After a quick perusal of TLR, we discovered some cute natural linen aprons, a good recipe for white bean and tomato soup and an interview with a real life "wood nymph." We'll be reading.
