Peter Philips, the man who comes up with Chanel's in-demand polishes, spoke with the New York Times about where he derives inspiration for the colors. Regarding Particulière, a greige shade that came out in 2010, he said: "That color was a bit of an accident, actually. It was a failed tryout for a purple taupe shade I had requested, but when I applied a swipe to my nail, I was blown away." [T]
