Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Amanda Jungman, owner of Socialite Auctions and former manager of decadestwo, believes the real luxury market lays hidden within the lavish closets of Beverly Hills. She's built her own luxury consignment business over the past decade and caters to a fashionable set who are as comfortable shopping on eBay as on Rodeo. Jungman spends her days in closets that are more boutique than walk-in, often filled with the latest runway collections and lined with shelves of Louboutins and Leiber clutches. With a roster of clients that well-heeled, gift giving can prove challenging. Unless, you have the centuries-old Santa Maria Novella at your back door, that is.
"Tucked away on Melrose Place in an ivy-covered brick building, Santa Maria Novella's staff is fashionable and welcoming, but the scent of the terra cotta pomegranate greets you first. This is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world founded by Dominican Friars in 1221. They continue to use ancient procedures and herbs grown in the hills of Florence where the company originated. Some people swear by the restorative properties of the pomegranate bath salts. My favorite product is the lightly-scented gardenia and rose body milk which has been made the same way for 700 years. You'll walk in to buy a gift and probably leave with something for yourself, too!"
