As one of the most pedestrian-friendly areas in LA, it's puzzling that Venice doesn't have more street fair action. The Venice Meet is about to change that with a new monthly open-air market, launching Saturday, April 7th.
More than 30 vendors, from artisanal food purveyors to crafty types like Mukee and Janie XY, will gather in the parking lot of the Westminster Avenue Elementary School at 1010 Abbot Kinney from 10am to 5pm; admission is free. On the market's About page, they describe their mission as follows: "At its heart, the Venice Meet will be about building community and capturing the independent spirit of this one of a kind neighborhood. We hope to...give Venetians a creative and inspired reason to gather." If you want to take part, it looks like they're still accepting vendors right here.
