Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Julie Wolfson loves finding a good gem and she gets even more excited when that gem happens to be in her neighborhood. The freelance writer, who contributes to Cool Hunting, Tubefilter and KCET Food, covers travel, pop culture, art, design, music, food, video games and more. She recently turned us onto ST&NDARD GOODS, her new source for gifts on Beverly Boulevard.
"When searching for stories for Cool Hunting, finding a gem in my own neighborhood is cause for celebration. The first time I walked into St&ndard Goods was one of those days. I should have been tipped off by the bold yellow-and-white striped awning, and the name of the store (complete with an ampersand replacing the "a"), that I'd find something good inside. Little did I know that the carefully curated collection of vintage finds, design collaborations and locally-sourced items would be my new go-to shop for gifts, inspiration, and insight into men's clothing trends. I love the quirky touches throughout the space, including the recent addition of last-place bowling trophies from Texas, toy career figures and eclectic art pieces."
