Some of the fashion world's top bloggers have gathered at Milk Studios in NYC today for the 6th bi-annual Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference to partake in a day's worth of panels to discuss the future of fashion blogging and social media. You can catch the last panel right now via livestream here.
Earlier today, LA-based blogger Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere participated in the "Your Blog: Your Dream or Just the Beginning?" panel, where she discussed how she turned her personal hobby into a full-fledged career. She explained that since her blog covers so many aspects of her life, it can be difficult to turn off her editorial eye: "Like if I'm at brunch, I tell everyone 'Hold on, I have to take a picture of this Bloody Mary.' I forget to just stop and experience the moment."
That nonstop editorial eye has landed her some pretty amazing opportunities. Regarding her good fortune, she notes: "I'm in the dream situation. I write my blog on a daily basis, I have a book coming out, and now I work with Estée Lauder. The very unglamorous side of blogging is that it takes a lot of work, but I'm very passionate about it."
