Kristin Reiter of Bleach Black Reveals Her Fave Melrose Shop

Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Kristin Reiter is one busy girl. She splits her time between southern California and Portland, Oregon, where she spends her days as the action sports design director at Nike. She's also one of the co-creators of Bleach Black, a conversational fashion blog that covers everything from making your own spiked iPhone covers to pink snowboards adorned with images of kittens. When she's in LA, she likes to frequent "punk/mod rock superstore" Posers on Melrose.

"I really love Posers on Melrose. I sort of love that it's overwhelming and that there is so much to choose from. I'd rather have too many options than not enough. Melrose is hard to sort out, so the store always gets overlooked. My day job requires me to be obscenely informed on what's happening in the current marketplace. Thus my scouring the world for everything that is 'fresh.' I accidentally stumbled into Posers one afternoon after spending way too much time on Melrose, but now, every time I go in, I end up buying something. In fact, the last time I was there I bought a pair of oilslicks—so rad. The interior space is exactly what it should be: packed with amazing product, poorly merchandised so you're forced to interact with the staff and sky-high ceilings with a second floor full of craziness. Expect to stay a while and be sorting through boxes."
