Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz started their sophisticated yet fuss-free product line, Malin + Goetz, in 2004. The couple now has two apothecaries in Manhattan and a shop-within-a-shop at Fred Segal Santa Monica. This month, they will open the doors to their first West Coast standalone store on Larchmont Boulevard in the space that formerly housed Sonya Ooten Gem Bar.
The clean-lined interior was designed by Brooklyn firm Bernheimer Architecture; the exterior of the store is marked by an oversize glass door and a dark gray facade. Why Larchmont? According a press release announcing the opening, the neighborhood's "sidewalk storefronts, ‘main street’ vibe, Sunday Farmer’s Market and pedestrian-friendly blocks" were the draw.
