It's not every day that you're invited to interview the world's bestselling digital recording artist of all time. This past Saturday we stopped by Macy's at Westfield Century City to meet the one and only Rihanna at the launch of her third fragrance, Nude by Rihanna. The eau de parfum will set you back $59 for a 3.4 oz bottle and features fresh and fruity notes of guava nectar, mandarin and pear.
While waiting with a small group of select journalists for RiRi to arrive, we couldn't help but notice the slew of giddy diehards crowding behind velvet ropes, reciting every lyric to every song that blared from the speakers. We hear that fans started lining up as early as 12pm for the 6pm meet-and-greet.
Once Rihanna finally emerged in a killer Christian Lacroix choker, floor-length Nini Nguyen gown and Tom Ford black python pumps, she braved the pandemonium to answer two of our fragrance-focused questions. (Yes, she's ridiculously pretty in person and her teeth are blindingly bright.)
If this scent was one of your songs, which one would it be?
"It would definitely be 'Skin' from my 2010 album. It's sexy and sassy. It's all about being in the nude."
What were some of your favorite fragrances growing up?
"The first fragrance I ever wore was Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden. I also loved White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor."
