Last night at the Sunset Tower Hotel, Tia Cibani of Ports 1961 previewed her debut collection for her new namesake label. Cibani left her position at Ports 1961 in 2010 to start a family and focus on her own pursuits; only two years later, she has a six-month-old and a newborn collection.

During the intimate viewing, Cibani explained that her Spring 2013 line was inspired by Marguerite Duras' novel The Lover and also has an element of the designer's own North African heritage. "I wanted to do something that was me...with a thread to the past," she says of the collection that launched in September. Cibani's client, who is global and eclectic, "wants something nice but doesn't want to break the bank." Sign us up!

Angelenos can find Tia Cibani's debut collection at Post 26 in the Brentwood Country Mart and online at TiaCibani.com.
