Kimberly Snyder glows. Flashing a flawless complexion and pearly whites, the LA-based celebrity nutritionist and yoga star is living proof of her Beauty Detox movement's success, which is why her Hollywood client roster continues to grow. Cheered on by the likes of Drew Barrymore and Channing Tatum, Snyder recently opened her very first juice bar, Kimberly Snyder's Glow Bio, in WeHo.
To celebrate the shop launch and the upcoming release of her second book, Beauty Detox Foods, we stopped by Glow Bio to get to know the woman behind the lifestyle. We're pleased to report that although she certainly maintains a strict diet, Snyder isn't above indulging in life's many guilty pleasures, including karaoke and Carrie Bradshaw.
What are you drinking today?
"I'm drinking the Glowing Green Juice with seasonal greens, apple and lemon."
What is your least favorite fruit?
"I love all fruits, but it would probably have to be honeydew. I'm not a big melon person. Melons don't combine well with other fruits, which is why they don't have a place on our menu."
What's your go-to karaoke song?
"It would have to be 'Living on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi. [Laughs] Last year I was working on a movie in New Orleans and Bon Jovi happened to be headlining the Jazz Festival there. It reignited my love for him!"
Where do you shop in LA?
"Besides the Farmer's Market, I'd say that half of my clothing comes from LF in Venice. The other half comes from Free People. I'm still new to LA, though, so I've been asking Drew [Barrymore] where to shop. She has the best style."
Speaking of style, what fashion trend are you most confused by?
"I want to say harem pants, but it looks great on some people, like Gwen Stefani. I'll never understand high-waisted jeans. They're just not for me."
What is your guilty pleasure?
"Okay, this may seem really old school to some people, but I watch Sex and the City on my computer all the time! It's mindless entertainment. There's an intelligence to their topics, but I love that it's just so easy to watch over and over again. Other than that, I'm a huge reader."
Gotta love SATC. What advice would you give teenage Kimberly?
"I was incredibly insecure about my body back then and was calorie-counting like crazy. I would have told myself to stop focusing on the numbers and to just follow a whole food, healthy diet and enjoy being a teenager."
What would be your last meal on Earth?
"I really, really love kale salad. Don't get me wrong, it took a long time to get where I am today. It took me two years to get off cheese! Now I'm at the point where I've just cleaned out my body so much that what I truly crave is a bountiful kale salad with quinoa. I'd also throw in a gluten-free vegan chocolate pie."
You've been all around the world. What is your favorite travel memory?
"I did over 11 safaris in Africa, and the one in Nepal was unlike anything else. I remember having a connection with one of the elephants, so his caretaker let me give him a bath. There I was in this fast-moving river on the back of a huge elephant. I was amazed at how careful he was not to step on me. He was just so gentle and intelligent."
What's on the top of your holiday wish list?
"More travel! My boyfriend and I are going to India on December 15th, so I'm really excited about that. We'll be there through New Year's Eve."
